Call me august. I’m a Chinese historian, but not a Chinese historian.
My work involves Chinese cities, religion, and politics. I’ve been thinking a lot about urban issues (category: cities).Often I scream at the universe, or some monarch, or all the folks who think they should be monarchs (category: philippic).
I write, sometimes about music (category: grooves), more rarely about photography and movies (category: visions), sometimes uncategorizable musings and poetry (kidding! category: august).
You can leave a comment here or in the forum, populated by a bunch of crazy kids I mostly know from the discussion boards at Slate. The group there tends to produce a mix of intelligence, poetry, and weirdness. The occasional psychopath may also be reading, so even if you think you know who I am, please just use my pseudonym.
